Easter Extravaganza!

We went a little crazy amassing chicks, bunnies and more for your Easter baskets. We recommend getting creative and using Penelope Peapod dolls (or animals) as your Easter basket, then add other goodies inside. Another eco-friendly option is to use an Envirosax as a basket...it is reusable for many purposes, plus it will hold 40 pounds of Easter treats! We also have some wonderful spring dresses that are perfect for the day. Now all Easter treats are 20% off!

Get Crafty with The Little Experience

We are in love with the craft kits that we just got in from British company The Little Experience. These are just the thing when you need a unique present, but you don't want to spend a lot of money. The high-quality craft kits are perfect for kids aged 3 and up. Smaller kits allow your kids to build a steamboat or a rocket, or make a handful of monster finger puppets. Create a trio of robots or an enchanted castle with a bigger kit. Our 6-year-old is working hard to sew a sweet doll and her handbag. Next up is an owl and her baby! The Little Experience is ahead of the eco-friendly curve with their recyclable toy packaging. Each box has a different pattern for re-purposing the box into a cool accessory like piggy banks, rocking chairs, coloring books, and even eyeglasses. These award winning kits are just making their way into the US, and we are so excited to carry them.

Mimi the Sardine...one great fish!

About six years ago, my mom sent me two bibs. One was green with a ladybug print and the other red with a tulip print. How can I remember two bibs that I got six years ago? Because we are still using them! Mimi the Sardine bibs, lunch bugs, aprons and splashmats are amazing. They are all made from cotton with an acrylic coating (not PVC). It is permanently water, soil, and mess resistant yet remains soft and supple. The eco-coating meets the Oeko-Tex 100 Standard, which means that their products pose no risk whatsoever to health. In 2009 they are transitioning into using acrylic-coated organically grown cotton. These great eco-friendly products can all be machine washed and dried and we can attest that they last for years! Not to mention that the Swedish prints are vibrant and so clever. We are truly fans of this San Francisco based, family-run business!

Jellycat- Believe the Hype

When people ask us to put together a shower gift or a birthday gift, we always include something from Jellycat and it is always the biggest hit. These plush toys are so soft and adorable, you truly have to feel them to understand why! We love them because they come in a couple price ranges, tots and puddings make great add-ons to a bigger gift, or the junglies and truffles are perfect on their own. They also have a line of soft books and activity toys that are equally cute and loveable. And we have just started to carry their new soothers which are part stuffed animal, part soft blankie. Add one to your next gift, or grab one for your kids, they will not disappoint!

Jellycat, established in London in 1999, is designed in England. Their toys are hip and humorous and always soft and sumptuous. All Jellycat products are super kid safe. They comply with and exceed EN71 European Testing standards and ASTM the American Testing standards.

Kicky Pants Bamboo...not just for pandas

First it was organic cotton, then soy, now bamboo is getting into the clothing biz. And what a welcome addition...Bamboo is an eco-friendly, sustainable crop that grows wild without the aid of fertilizers or pesticides. Bamboo fabric is naturally antibacterial, antifungal and antistatic. Bamboo wicks water from the body 3-4 times better than cotton, keeping skin comfortable, rather than sticky, in summer weather. And, Bamboo stays 2-3 degrees cooler in hot weather & warmer in cold. Plus, it is silky soft and feels great against the skin! We have a fresh crop of bamboo togs from KickyPants. Dresses, onesies/rompers, and super cute PJs. Check them out!

New Year, New Stuff

We just got back from a very fun and productive trip to the New York International Gift Fair. We had a great time buying new toys, clothes and games to add to the site. We are especially excited about some of our new brands like the awesome, eco friendly things from kidsonroof. Kidsonroof is a cool company from Holland that uses simple cardboard plus kids imagination to create incredible toys. First, we have their Totem building sets for ages 7 and up. These consist of 130 cardboard cards that can be used to create four amazing models or anything else your kid can dream up. A perfect birthday gift!

Over the holidays I purchased the Kidsonroof house for my two girls. It is a 100% recycled cardboard box that folds into a playhouse. Now, we have had pop up playhouses before. They all came with drawings that showed how easy it was to fold them back into a perfect, compact circle...but we could never figure them out, so we rarely used them. I can vouch for the easy set up and clean up of this one!It comes folded flat for easy storage and is easily assembled into a playhouse with windows and doors. It is meant to be decorated, but I still can't trust my kids with markers in the house so we left ours plain :)
